Women & Girls Salad Supper
The Women & Girls’ Salad Supper will be held Wednesday, May 17 at 6 p.m.
Betsy Kuecker will speak about the German student exchange program at Grundy Center and the latest trip to Germany. Please bring a salad to share.Invite your friends and neighbors to also enjoy the meal, program and fellowship.
60th Anniversary Celebration
Don & Velva Butler will be celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, May 21 during the potluck at the Ivester Church (which is held ˝ hour after worship). The Butler’s will be furnishing meat, cake and ice cream. Others attending are asked to bring salads or vegetables.
In the closet by the east door of the educational wing are reflective vests and garbage bags. They are waiting for people to use for cleaning up the roadside ditches east and west of E. Avenue on Hwy 175. You may reserve your ditch and clean it when the weather and timing suit you (before May 15). It is fine if several want to work together on one area, but Dorothy won't be the one organizing it. You can make you reservation on the map on the closet door.
Opportunity for Service to your neighbors
Saturday, May 27 the Mobile Pantry for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank is being hosted at American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center (1105 F Ave). Volunteers from area churches are welcome to assist in unloading the truck, distributing food items, and carrying item to vehicles with guests who receive. Volunteers are needed 8:00 - 10:30 am. Persons who wish to volunteer from our congregation are asked to contact Rev Paul by Thursday, May 25 so that we can let the folks at American know an approximate count of helpers. Youth and adult volunteers are welcome. Younger children may come with an accompanying adult.
Garage Sale / Bake Sale
Save the date! Our annual Garage Sale / Bake Sale will be Saturday, June 3 from 9-1 at the church.
We will accept everything except old TVs, large appliances and winter clothing. Smaller items can be taken to the fireplace room at any time.
Larger items (furniture, etc.) can be dropped off after Memorial Day but before June 2 (May 30-June 1) and placed in the foyer. If you know you have something old, or unique, please let Jennie or Christine know by May 10 so they can include it in the advertising.
Bake sale possibility are: bread, rolls, pies, bars, brownies, cookies, snack mix, candies. Bread, rolls and pies sell very quickly, so we can us as many of those as possible. Please do not bring cream pies as we don’t have the space to keep them cold. All food items will be priced this year by Jennie & Christine. We will sell cookies either individually, by ˝ dozen, or by the dozen.
A paper asking for food donations for the lunch will be posted in a couple weeks.

Relay For Life
On Friday, June 9, after dusk a special Luminaria lighting ceremony will take place at the Relay For Life of Grundy County to remember and honor family and friends who have battled cancer. With your $10 donation per bag, a Luminaria will be be placed along the pathway to memorialize or honor someone you love. A personal message can be added to the Luminaria along with the individual's name. Make checks payable to the American Cancer Society. 150th Anniversary Celebration
As we near the weekend of celebration for 150 years at Ivester (see below), we are looking for your help in setting up displays. If you have photos, books, memorabilia, quilts, etc., that you feel would be of interest, please tell or e-mail one of our committee members by MAY 1. We are particularly interested in locating any celebration quilts made here at Ivester.

Saturday, June 17
2 pm--Welcome by Rev Paul and others, History Highlights by Marlene Neher, singing, sharing.
3:30 pm--Cemetery Walk.
5:30 pm--Meal at church.
7 pm--Singing, Greetings from former pastors and/or members.
Sunday, June 18
8:30 am--Continental breakfast and view of displays
10 am --Worship Service, no Sunday School.
Rev Paul preaching.
12 noon meal (provided)
1:30 pm--Plans and Dreams for Future
3:00 pm--Homemade ice cream
